Looking for a campus job?

It's that time of the year where students are looking to find a job on campus or even off campus. I know you have bills on bills and you need steady income coming in. I'll focus on finding an on campus job in this blog. Here are some tips for making the process a lot more productive:
  1. Make sure you have a good resume ready to go. Most jobs will require one and it's great practice for when you graduate and look for jobs in the real world. It's ok if you've never had one, use sites like Zety, Indeed or just plain ole Google.com for some inspiration. Also take full advantage of your career center on campus for resume reviews and workshops.
  2. Check your campus job site for available jobs and apply. After you put in your application, reach out to the point of contact for whatever job you applied for. It is very important to make those connections, this can help you stand out in a large pool of applicants.
  3. ASK and you shall receive. Unfortunately not all positions are posted online, this is where asking friends, professors and staff about available positions comes in. If you have an interest in a specific field, you can inquire about opportunities from whatever department of interest. For example: If you are interested in media, you can go to the campus newspaper center and ask if they are hiring.
  4. Don't be intimidated by educational opportunities. A lot of campuses pay students stipends for research or teaching assistant opportunities. Don't be afraid to talk to your favorite professor about your interests and future goals, they may take you under their wings and get you into those positions.
  5. Lastly, don't stress too much about it. You'll find a job soon.
I'll encourage you to join our free discord community for more resources and also a chance to have real-time conversations with other college students.
